Pre-diabetes: This three week program provides the information you need to understand Prediabetes, which is a risk factor for diabetes, how to manage your diet, add exercise and monitor your blood sugar by routine office visits with your Primary Care Provider.
Diabetes 101: This is a six week program with everything you need to know about diabetes. Diagnosis, management, diet, exercise, complications, treatment options, and more. Taste testing at each meeting.
Advanced Diabetes: Three week program takes off from Diabetes 101. Topics include the role of the liver and stomach in diabetes, sodium and fat in foods, new medications for diabetes, PAD, Gastroparesis and more.
Weight Management and Carb Counting: This class provides education about weight, diets, counting carbs and the role of food in our life. It also offers information and support for those who are trying to lose weight.
Caregiver Support Group: The group provides a source of added support for those that are caring for another. Stressors that may arise when caring for others can become overwhelming. A support group that focuses on ways to alleviate and cope with these stressors as well as assist in learning new ways to care for yourself too is beneficial for caregivers. There is no fee for participation in this group.
All Diabetes classes are $10 per class, and Weight Management and Carb Counting classes are $5 per class. After attending a class, the patient will be billed for the amount owed, which they can submit to their insurance. With the exception of Medicare, most insurances cover the cost of these classes. FPCA itself does not submit these classes to insurance.
Patients are required to call our office and register for the class @ 301-682-6094.
We also welcome one-on-one appointments for those who do not favor group settings.
