The Woodsboro Medical Center opened in September of 1982. The land for the Center was donated by the Town of Woodsboro and funds to build the Center were collected from donations. The Center's main fundraiser was an annual Woodsboro Medical Center 10 Mile Walk held at the Woodsboro Regional Park. Ausherman Construction was the contractor for the Center. W. Earl Hawkins was the first President of the Medical Center's Board of Directors and Claude H. Barrick was the Chairman of the finance committee. Dr. Gene Ashe began his family medicine practice at the Medical Center in August 1984. Dr. Ashe joined Frederick Primary Care Associates in 1998.
